Thankyou Doug for all the good times when we were youngsters. You were a great mentor and workmate at the bakery and we had many a good night growing up around Albany. My sincere thanks and also best wishes to Diane and families.

Our thoughts are with Diane and family on the loss of Doug. A hockey umpiring legend in Albany who always offered support and mentoring to anyone who asked. In rain, hail or sun, Doug would be there and it is only fitting he was recently awarded Life Membership with LGSHA.
Brad and I will miss your cruise and holiday destination reviews as it was always wonderful to hear of your travels with Diane.
Rest Peacefully Doug, you will be missed by many.

Good bye Doug and thankyou for the memories way back in our teenage and bakehouse days. It was great to catch-up for the evening a few years ago. Our thoughts to Diane and family. Alan

Doug has left an amazing legacy with his umpiring, and commitment to mentoring young umpires, for over 50 years in our region. Everyone admired how Doug went about his umpiring with a great knowledge of the rules and a strong sense of fairness and sportsmanship. His commitment to umpiring in our region was unwavering and it feels like there are not enough words to do justice to his legacy. Sadly now, his whistle is silent. Condolences and sympathy to Diane and family.

So sad to hear this sad news of Doug, such a gentleman, with a great sence of humour, a very careing person, and was an honour to have known him.
Glad you and Diane were able to have such wonderful holidays together in your retirement.
Rest in peace Doug, you will be sadly missed by a lot of people.

Doug – memories of 44 years of tennis, busy bee’s, painting the courts, social events, fundraising and lamington drives at Merrifield Park Tennis Club will be cherished by everyone who knew you at the club. Your dedication and loyalty to the club earned you a life membership badge in 1999 which we know you treasured and wore with pride. Game, set and match Doug. A true champion. Rest peacefully.

Dear Doug,
Thank you for your friendship, love and support to Steve and myself over the last 26 years since we first moved into 32. You and Diane didn’t think twice about taking Mitch in while I was in ARH when Zoe was born, heart felt appreciation that cannot be equaled. Much more recently you called us and when I answered and asked who I was speaking to you replied “It’s me”
I asked “who’s me” then I recognised your voice. We all had a laugh about that and still do. Doug, we will never forget you and your kind unselfish heart.

You weren’t just a neighbour to us Doug you were a special friend, you helped us and looked out for us from the beginning. We will always remember your kindness and warmth to us and to my mum and dad when they moved here. We’re holding on to the good memories Doug especially that last bbq we had together I think we all laughed so hard we were in tears! You will always have a place in our hearts, love you always,
