Funeral Director’s Assistant & Mortuary Technician:
Karen commenced her association with the Bethany Family as a casual member. At the time the new premises for Bethany were commissioned, it was seen to be an ideal time for Karen to make funeral directing a full time career.
Karen’s roles are many and varied. Her main and most important role is to care for families and ensure dignity and respect for the deceased is constantly maintained.
Having been a member of the Plantagenet and Cranbrook communities from childhood, Karen has a connection to many families in the district, an aspect that enables families to feel comfortable in dealing with a familiar face.
Karen also fills an important role in assisting new staff members to settle in at Bethany providing guidance and support in the workplace with new tasks to be learnt.
Outside of work, Karen and her partner take every opportunity to get away camping and fishing. They may be a little competitive about who catches the most fish but Karen does seem to have bragging rights most often. She also loves bushwalking, getting close to nature and exploring all its wonders. Karen’s home garden is the place where she enjoys spending time relaxing, reading mystery books and working in her productive vegetable patch.
